BetterLetter ("us", "we", or "our") operates the BetterLetter mobile application and associated services (collectively, the "Service").
This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of your data when you use our Service and the choices you have associated with that data. This Privacy Policy is an important document, and we encourage you to read it carefully. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Our Privacy Policy is also available within the BetterLetter application in an easily accessible manner.
We collect different types of information for various purposes to provide and improve our Service to you. We strive to collect only the data necessary for the functioning and improvement of the Service (data minimization).
User Images for Handwriting Analysis: We collect the images you voluntarily upload to the Service for the purpose of handwriting analysis ("User Images"). These images are processed to generate handwriting analysis results ("Generated Content"). While User Images may potentially contain personal information if they depict identifiable individuals or include personal text, we process them solely for providing the handwriting analysis feature. We encourage you to be mindful of the content of the images you upload.
Communication Data: If you contact us for support or other inquiries (e.g., via email to hello@betterletterapp.com), we will collect your contact information (such as your email address) and the content of your communication.
When you access and use our Service, we may collect certain information automatically ("Usage Data"). This Usage Data is primarily associated with an anonymous identifier specific to your app installation and is not typically linked to a traditional personal user account unless you voluntarily provide identifying information (e.g., during a support request).
Usage Data may include:
We do not use Usage Data to track your activity across other companies' apps or websites for advertising purposes.
We use Meta’s SKAdNetwork API to understand how effectively our ads lead to app installs. When you install BetterLetter from a Meta ad, Apple sends an anonymised post-install event to Meta. No personal information (such as your name or email) is shared, and Meta cannot track you across apps. We do not enable personalised ads or request the IDFA.
BetterLetter uses the collected data for the following purposes:
We retain your data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, to provide you with continuous access to your analysis, or unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.
You have the right to request the deletion of your data associated with your use of the Service. The primary way to delete your account and all associated data (including User Images, Generated Content, and Usage Data) is through the "Delete Account & Data" feature located in your profile settings within the BetterLetter app. This in-app process is designed to be compliant with App Store guidelines.
Using this feature will permanently remove your data from our systems. If you encounter any issues with the in-app deletion process or have specific questions, you can also contact us at hello@betterletterapp.com. When contacting us via email for assistance, please provide any information that can help us identify your account if necessary.
We will respond to your requests and process deletions within a reasonable timeframe and in accordance with applicable law. Please note that we may need to retain certain anonymized or aggregated information for analytical purposes, or specific transaction details for record-keeping to complete transactions, or when required by law, even after a deletion request.
We do not sell your personal data. We may share your information with third-party service providers to facilitate our Service, provide the Service on our behalf, perform Service-related services, or assist us in analyzing how our Service is used. These categories of service providers include:
These third parties are contractually obligated to provide the same or equal protection of user data as stated in this Privacy Policy and as required by applicable laws and Apple's Guidelines. They are bound by confidentiality obligations and are restricted from using your data for any purpose other than to perform these tasks on our behalf.
The security of your data is important to us. We use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest where appropriate. However, please remember that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have certain data protection rights. BetterLetter aims to take reasonable steps to allow you to correct, amend, delete, or limit the use of your data, and to withdraw consent.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at hello@betterletterapp.com. If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the UK, you also have the right to complain to a Data Protection Authority about our collection and use of your Personal Data.
Our Service is not directed to anyone under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in the relevant jurisdiction) ("Children"), and we do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from Children. Our app is not targeted at children, and its App Store age rating reflects this.
If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your Child has provided us with Personal Data without your consent, please contact us at hello@betterletterapp.com. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from Children without verification of parental consent, we will take steps to remove that information from our servers.
Our Service may contain links to other sites that are not operated by us. If you click on a third party link, you will be directed to that third party's site. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site you visit. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third party sites or services.
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and within the app, and we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy.
You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
